ATLANTA – Following a season-ending 34-7 victory over Stillman, the Kentucky State football team captured three of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's four weekly awards, the conference announced Monday. Reginal Harris was selected as the SIAC's Offensive Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week, while Brentton Ervin was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Harris, a junior running back from Miami, Fla., finished the season on a tear, setting new career high rushing totals and topping the 100-yard mark in his final three games. It was his second consecutive week with an SIAC weekly honor after winning the top newcomer award last week as well.

Harris helped lead the Kentucky State offense to its highest point total of the season on Saturday, rushing for 174 yards on 28 carries, including a 57-yard touchdown that helped put the game away in the fourth quarter. For the season, Harris ranks third in the SIAC with 667 rushing yards and is tied for second in the conference with an average of 6.3 yards per attempt.

Ervin's weekly award was also his second of the season after being named Newcomer of the Week on Oct. 5. He continued his strong freshman campaign with 11 tackles on Saturday, helping Kentucky State limit Stillman to just 119 yards of offense. Of his 11 tackles, Ervin recorded eight solo tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and a sack, while also breaking up a pass. On the season, Ervin has 50 total tackles and leads the Kentucky State defense with 16.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.

Monday's honors bring Kentucky State's total to eight weekly SIAC awards this season. The Thorobreds finished the season at 3-7 after Saturday's victory.
