ATLANTA – Kentucky State's
Tahje Ochs was selected as the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week for volleyball matches played between Oct. 26 and Nov. 1, the conference announced Tuesday.
Ochs, a junior outside hitter from Larned, Kan., recorded a match-high 16 digs with two block assists in the Thorobrettes' only match of the week, a 3-1 loss at University of the Cumberlands on Tuesday. She also tallied eight kills in the match.
The SIAC weekly honor was the third of the season for Ochs, who was named the Newcomer of the Week on Sept. 22 and Oct. 6. Overall the Thorobrettes have claimed seven SIAC weekly honors this year.
The Thorobrettes currently stand at 18-10 overall on the season and 17-1 in SIAC competition. They play their final two home matches of the season this week when they host Asbury on Tuesday and St. Catharine on Thursday, both at 7 p.m. at the Exum Center.
