Kentucky State Student-Athletes Receive Division II Academic Achievement Awards

CLEVELAND, Ohio (August 17, 2012) - The Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2ADA) announced the 2011-12 recipients of the D2ADA Academic Achievement Awards. The Academic Achievement Awards is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division 2 level.
 
A record number of institutions (118) and student-athletes (4,492) are being recognized for the 2011-12 Academic Achievement Awards, and nine Kentucky State University student-athletes are among the honorees. Isaiah Adams (Football), Erica Coleman (Volleyball), Brandon Curry (Football), Teya Everett (Softball), Deshon Floyd (Football), Daniel Horn (Football), Tiffany Jones (Women's Cross Country and Track and Field), James Lewis (Football) and Raven Ward (Women's Basketball) were recognized by the D2ADA for their academic performances during the 2011-12.
 
“We are extremely proud of our student-athletes for receiving this award,” stated KSU Director of Athletics, Dr. Denisha L. Hendricks. “It is a pleasure to be a part of an organization that does such a great job at recognizing the academic accomplishments of our student-athletes.”
 
To be eligible for the Academic Achievement Award, the athletics director of the Division 2 institution MUST BE a CURRENT dues paying member of the D2ADA.
Also, the student-athlete must:
  • have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work
  • have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year
 
The D2ADA is the first organization of its kind to provide educational and networking opportunities; enhancement of acceptable operating standards and ethics; and establishment of the overall prestige and understanding of the profession of Division 2 athletics directors.
