ATLANTA, Ga. (April 22, 2012)-- Kentucky State University's Women's Track and Field team finished the 2012 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Championship with 57 points to capture seventh place.
Krisja Curlin continued her strong season, placing first in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 21:54.11. Curlin also took third place in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (13:04.41) and fourth in the 10,000 meter run (46:30.26). In the field events,
Brittany Stewart placed fourth overall in the javelin with a throw of 30.01 meters.
Dejanee White had a strong performance in the heptathlon, scoring 3,287 points to place sixth. White also ran the second leg of KSU's 4x400 meter relay team that placed sixth with a time of 4:03.83 (
Tiffany Jones,
Kristina Record and
Denita Brown).
In other track events, Jones placed third in the 400 meter hurdles (1:05.66) and fourth in the 100 meter hurdles (14.97), while Jade Palm placed fifth in the 400 meter hurdles (1:07.69). Brown finished fifth in the 800 meter run (2:27.07) while Kristian Record placed sixth in the steeplechase with a time of 13:59.31.
