Harry Stinson, who joined the Thorobred athletics staff at the end of 2009, was appointed as the Interim Athletic Director on September 8, 2014. In addition to his responsibilities as Interim Athletic Director, Stinson will continue to handle external operations and compliance for the athletic department as well as continuing as Head Men’s Golf Coach.
Stinson is responsible for certifying student-athletes for competition, managing and monitoring all areas of athletics compliance and supervising all game day operations. He also serves as the sport administrator for nine sports and oversees athletic training. He has also started the KSU Licensing Program, is the liaison between Athletics and Alumni Associations and is in charge of creating and implementing marketing, fundraising, fan development and development initiatives and programs for athletics.
Prior to coming to KSU, Stinson served as the Director of Championships, Communications and Marketing at the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) for nearly five years. He also served as Interim Commissioner during 2008-09. Harry began his athletic career as a coach at Dr. Phillips High School (Orlando, Fla.) coaching track and field, basketball and football. He also worked in Basketball Operations at the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), as a League Administrator at the World Boxing League and as Director of Operations at the Georgia World Games Sports Commission.
Stinson, who ran track for Florida State University from 1998-2001, is a member of several personal and/or professional organizations including: Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA), National Association for Athletic Compliance (NAAC) and Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA). He is a graduate of the 2009 NCAA Leadership Institute for Ethnic Minority Males and Females and is a 2011 graduate of the NCAA Pathway Program (Formerly FELLOWS), which was developed with the specific goal of enhancing the employment and leadership opportunities for racial/ethnic minorities and women at the senior management level of intercollegiate athletics administration. Harry has served as a facilitator for the NCAA Division II Leadership Academy, 2008-09 and 2009-10, and as facilitator for the NCAA Student Athlete Leadership Forum in 2012.Â

Harry serves on several NCAA, SIAC and Kentucky State University committees including the NCAA Division II Infractions Committee, the NCAA Eligibility Center Advisory Board, NAAC Membership and Awards Committee, NAAC Division II Committee, SIAC Sport Supervising Committee, Chair of the SIAC Golf Coaches Association, KSU Grievance Committee (Chair), KSU Compliance Committee (Chair), KSU Homecoming Planning Committee and has served on several university and athletic coaching search committees. In 2013 Stinson was named to the MOAA Board of Directors.

In the spring of 2014, Stinson led the Kentucky State men’s golf team to the inaugural SIAC Men’s Golf Championship.
Stinson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Florida State University in 2002 and a Master of Science in Sports Administration from Georgia State University in 2005.
